Roma are coming off victories in the league against Brescia and a 3-0 Victory in the Europa League against Istanbul as their European Ambitions continue. This week they had on the road agaianst A Verona team that they have not played in three seasons. Even though Verona have only recently been promoted to the Top Flight in Italy they have showed some progress. Meanwhile Roma are back in form and have several injured players return to the team which makes them at this point as dangerous as they have been this season. It is a huge match in an addition of Sunday Night Football. In what should be a hugely competitive match between two teams looking to further themselves in Italian football. Roma will come in as heavy favorites but the hosts will present some challenges that Roma will have to deal with. The question remains Will Roma continue to grab momentum and confidence after having beaten them in two consecutive matches or will Verona find a way to pull off the upset at home we will find all that and and more on Sunday night in Verona.
A.S Roma
Roma feel confident at the moment but do have one eye on the game next weekend against Inter Milan. It is really important that Roma pick up the three points Roma will go for their strongest line-up as Roma need to drive this moment through this weekend. In goal as always should be Pau Lopez. At left-back we should see as always Alex Kolarov beside him the centre-back partnership should stay the same as Gianluca Mancini and Chris Smalling as they continue to be one of Europe’s best Duos this season. Then at right-back will be either Alexandro Florenzi or Leonardo spinazzola. Roma’s captain is coming off injury so it’s unclear whether he will be fit for the match on Sunday. In the defensive Midfield we should see no difference with Jordan veretout and diawara. In the attacking Midfield there’s should be one change as Nicolo zaniolo is serving suspension. In the central position we should see the in-form Lorenzo Pellegrini. On the left wing Justin kluivert and then on the opposite side on the right one should be Cengiz Under. Up front as the main Striker as always will be edin dzeko who has scored in his last two games. As always Roma will have options off the Bench with Diego perotti and henrikh mkhitaryan.
Verona
Hellas Verona typically plays out of the 3-4-1-2 formation they play with security on their back line with several defensive midfielders while going forward through their attack. I don’t expect there to be very many changes in the team. In goal should be Silverstri. They’re backline should consist at left-back Bocchetti, at centre-back Gunter then finally occupying right back should be Rrahmani. This team plays with four defensive midfielders. On the outside should be Lazovic meanwhile the inside defensive Midfield is likely to be Pessina and Amrabat with Faraoni on the outside. Their lone attacking midfielder should be Verre and as always the front two with Di Carmine and Salcedo. The key player for Verona is Vere he has the ability to make a difference in the Midfield as well as scoring himself he will be key in the final result.
Bottom Line
Roma need to find a way to win this game because they have their biggest match of the season next weekend. Roma are coming into this game with momentum after back-to-back victories. They are the better team going to have the players to make Verona pay for it. From a tactical perspective Verona will do all the right things and try to eliminate Chances with protection with their for defensive midfielders. However Roma has pace on the outside that can bother Verona what Roma can offer can offer can make a big difference in this game. With speed and pace with Justin kluivert and Cengiz under it’s going to be something that’s going to be difficult for Verona to control. That’s not to mention Lorenzo Pellegrini is playing out of his mind right now and has the passing ability and intelligence that’s on a level by himself. When healthy he’s been one of the best players in the entire league this season and he will continue to look to improve on that this weekend. With that being said Verona has the ability to make things difficult despite the fact that they were recently promoted they have been picking up victories on an almost regular basis. There form compared to Roma is almost identical. They will make this difficult on Roma and at times it will be unclear whether or not Roma will have the ability to overcome it but in the end as tough as it may be Roma will find a way to win this game and pick up three points they absolutely need so they can go into the Inter Milan match with momentum. Lorenzo Pellegrini once again it will be the difference and even without Zaniolo Roma will get the job done away at Verona on Sunday.
