The Roma ladies started 2022 with undesirable conditions. Four Roma players being covid positive. Bernadetta glionna, Andressa Alves, Valeria Pirone, and Camelia Caesar all had to miss a vital fixture against Empoli. Coming into the match Roma are winners of their last five matches. At home against Empoli, they looked to make it six in a row. Spagna, who has been instrumental in Roma’s success this season, would host his former side in Rome this weekend. Roma handled Empoli in the first meeting of the season, with the Roma ladies securing a straightforward 3-0 victory. Roma currently sits in second place as they continue to try to earn Champions League qualification this season and retain the Coppa Italia. Given all of the absentees that Roma had to deal with, it turned out to be a highly complex match that needed a late Dramatics to decide it. Roma dominated the game and had the majority of the chances, especially in the first half when they came very close to breaking through on a few different opportunities. It seemed like Roma was on the verge of a breakthrough as you would expect, as they went into this as heavy favorites. However, their lack of clinical finishing in front of the goal could have haunted them as they were not the same without the attacking players that did not make the trip. At the end of the first half, the visitors took a shock lead; a Collapse by the defense allowed a breakaway as Chante Mary beat the goalkeeper to take a 1-0 lead. Emma Lind, Roma’s new goalkeeper who, all likelihood, will act as a backup to the Romanian Caesar, put in an incredibly horrible situation without a chance to save it as the defense played her outside. However, Roma managed to Rally late as we saw the Norwegian connection haavi picked out a pass for 18-year-old debutante Mina bergenson getting the equalizer in the last possible part of the game; Pamela Lazaro was taken down in the Box given a penalty in the final seconds. Elena Linari stepped up and converted as Roma managed to come from behind to earn a vital three points following a 2-1 Victory against empoli. Romanow has rattled off 6 straight wins as Roma currently sit in a Champions League spot only behind Juventus in the league table; this is clearly a different Roma.

At the preparations and predictions, the match got underway in Rome to start the new year. It would be the second meeting between Roma and Empoli this season. Roma managed a 3-0 victory, and in the opening game of the season against them in the first meeting, Empoli scored three own goals and was overwhelmed by Roma. This matchup was going to be slightly more complicated because Roma had so many starters missing the game due to positive covid tests. However, in the beginning, portions of the game, things were going swimmingly. It didn’t look like they would have that many issues to get the result in the end. They had the majority of the ball dominating possession and creating so many more chances than the opposition. Twenty minutes into the match, Roma had multiple opportunities back-to-back. Coming off a corner, Manuela Guliano whipped in a cross that eventually found Thesia as she tried to corral her shot at the near post but failed to reach the target. A minute later, a cross coming from the wing inside the Box that was deflected on the initial attempt; however, Anna Serturini collected the ball from inside the box before hitting a powerful shot that looks like a significant scoring opportunity; however, the goalkeeper managed to put her hands up even though she had to struggle considering how Much power came from the strike. Roma continues to be in control and nearly could have scored off a set-piece just a little while later. Manuela Giuliano hit a free-kick over the wall looking for the bottom corner, but the keeper could make the save at the last second. Everything was going great for Roma; it seemed like the momentum of the game was only going to build into their favor. However, in the 38th minute, Roma’s defense poorly managed themselves in the offside trap allowing Chanty Mary one-on-one with the goalkeeper; nothing could be done in that situation; add the collapse from the defense allowed Empoli to score on their first shot of the game. Empoli would hold to a 1-0 lead going into the second half.

A bizarre game where Roma was out and out of control; they were dominating the front of the play; they showed more creativity, they had more chances on goal collectively they were significantly the better team but couldn’t cash in. The absentees certainly could have played a role in that. Despite conceding at the end of the first half, Roma had lost a step may continue to go after it, maybe even to a large extent, the intensity was real. Just two minutes into the second half Corelli did a brilliant job beating her Defender getting inside to the Box before administering a well-hit strike that came very close to scoring. Still, the goalkeeper managed to keep her team in front. Roma continued to push forward and play their game; the problem was they were having difficulty finding the back of the net; they needed two goals to win this game and to keep their streak alive. Empoli attempted to extend the lead when they ripped a strike from well outside the box, trying to catch the Swedish goalkeeper by surprise, but Emma Lind made the important save as the comeback bid was still alive. With roughly 15 minutes to go, Haavi came close once she hit a curler trying to reach the top corner, but her strike was a little wide. It was becoming gut-check time if Roma would come back in the game. Then it happened in the 83rd minute Emile Haavi pushed the ball forward from the wing, found enough space to connect with 18-year-old Mina bergenson as she found the bottom corner to get a much-needed equalizer. It was a debut goal for the 18-year-old as she comes off the bench and gets them the equalizer following the Norwegian connection. At the very death of the game, in stoppage-time, Empoli saved an attempt on goal off the line coming from a corner. However, they did Force another in the 96th minute; with just seconds remaining, Pamela Lazaro was cleaned out, taking down on the box the referee had no choice but to point to the Penalty spot. Elena Linari stepped up and converted as the Roma ladies kept their hot streak going winning at the death with the Italian defender scoring a high-pressure penalty to win the points for Roma. Roma struggled without the four starters with covid, but they get there in the end as Roma to win streak reaches 6.

Champions League next season to becoming more and more of a possibility as Roma continues to be a totally different team this season. They maintain their second-place position with their sixth victory in a row. This Roma team under Spagna has just been another level; they have only lost two games this season while holding the second-best defense in the league. Catching Juventus is just not going to be a possible scenario; they’re too far gone but Champions League football could become a reality. Roma came into this game with four starters missing because of covid; even though there were times were Roma struggled, he showed up big in the game’s most important moments. In hindsight, Roma dominated the game and should have put away much earlier. But in the end, Roma came together to turn around the deficit scoring two late goals that give them the points in the end. A tremendous performance from Emil Haavi, and she seems to be hitting the ground running in Italy since her move from Norway. On top of that star could be in the making. Mina bergenson and 18-year-old Norwegian Talent makes her debut scoring the equalizer, an extraordinary moment for the kid. Roma can thrive without the four but did find things difficult at times. Roma still got there in the end azalina linari delivered the high-pressure penalty to win the game at the death. Hopefully, four players that missed action this weekend will return when they play Napoli and the Derby Del Sol; it is a match that should not give them much difficulty as Roma have 20 more points than they do, but nonetheless, Roma will have to be prepared for everything. This Roma team continues to be very special this season AC Milan and sassuolo will be breathing down their neck four the second Champions League spot. Still, in the end, Roma has shown that they can battle with the best of them; they’re playing at an all-time high, and even under complicated circumstances, Roma managed to get it done in the end as they continue to fly.
